Myna Music Search Enters the Music Industry
September 21, 2010

Orpheus Media Research and David Vanacore Music reach agreement to debut new music search and similarity technology with the 24/7 Music Library.

Philadelphia, PA, September 21, 2010 – Today David Vanacore Music signed an agreement with Orpheus Media Research, LLC (OMR) to become the first online music catalog to feature Myna, a breakthrough search technology. This partnership marks the beginning of the music industry’s move away from the well-known limitations of metadata and keyword searches to an automated process that provides more accurate and comprehensive music search and discovery.

Dr. Greg Wilder, founder and Chief Science Officer of OMR, developed the international patent-pending technology. “The advancements we’ve achieved with Myna are the result of years of music theory and cognition research,” said Dr. Wilder. “Before Myna, music match and discovery solutions relied on words manually generated by people in an attempt to describe a piece of music’s character. Music expresses emotions that can’t adequately be described with words, and now, for the first time, Myna allows the music to speak for itself.”

“We assembled the 24/7 Library from music we’ve recently produced for television’s most popular shows,” said David Vanacore, founder and CEO of David Vanacore Music in Valencia, CA. “Customers searching our catalog can always call upon one of our expert, in-house music supervisors to help guide them to the right cue. But we’re thrilled to be the first production library to integrate the Myna search technology because Myna offers our users a unique, automated ‘search-by-sound’ perspective on the catalog, allowing them to search for music using their own ears. This partnership allows us to provide our customers with the best of both worlds.”

“We’re excited to unveil Myna with Vanacore Music’s 24/7 library, which represents music production at the highest levels of the industry,” said Jon Manness, VP of Business Development for OMR. “Together we’re setting a new standard in music search and discovery. Before Myna, catalogers had to listen and review every track individually. Myna analyzes emotion and texture based only on the way the music sounds so the end-user sees only the most accurate and relevant search results.”

“Music catalogs around the world are growing at an unprecedented rate,” Dr. Wilder noted. “Myna offers distributors the ability to automate analysis and eliminate back catalogs, making more music instantly available to consumers. Ultimately, we believe Myna will forever change how people search for and discover new music.”

OMR continues to explore opportunities with online music services in the US and around the world.
